A New Look for 2018

After 27 years of use, it was time to replace my Selmer Pro Alto Sax. Many of you have already seen the new equipment addition for 2018, a Lazarro Pro Alto Sax with black lacquer and gold keys. Combined with a Vandoren ZZ Jazz Reed, I have been very please with its performance and I hope you like the results. Thanks for all of the kind words you have expressed.

See you soon! - Curtis C.

Happy New Year 2018

From our house to yours, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you for a great 2017!

We look forward to another wonderful year of working together!

God Bless, Curtis and Laura Chamberlain

Fall 2017

"A Walk Down Memory Lane" continued with a full schedule during the Fall months. The Fall colors were slow to come this year but had a beautiful finish. We took a trip to Hocking Hills State Park in October to visit the infamous "Old Man's Cave". What a beautiful day and a beautiful handiwork of Creation. We are busy scheduling for 2018 and look forward to hearing from you. Here is a snapshot from our day at the park. It made me think of the song, "Happy Trails". See you soon!  -Curtis C.

Summer 2017

We are looking forward to a lively summertime music schedule as we take "A Walk Down Memory Lane." In our spare time, Laura and I have been enjoying the summer with bicycle rides, gardening, and house projects. We even did some strawberry picking in Marietta over Memorial Day weekend. We wish you all the very best for a grand summer and look forward to hearing from and seeing you. It is always an honor to be of service.  -Curtis C.

Spring 2017

What a beautiful time of year as nature comes back to life once again. Yesterday, we celebrated Easter. For us, it is a reminder of the overwhelming love of God and the promise of new life through the gift of His son, Jesus Christ. For the first time in 15 years, Laura and I scheduled a short "Spring Break" in March to rest up from the busy Winter Season. 2017 has been wonderful. It is such a blessing to see you all on a regular basis as we take a "Walk Down Memory Lane" together. Please let us know how we may serve your musical needs, we are just a call or email away. Enjoy the warm weather and take good care.  God Bless!  -Curtis C.

P.S. Feel free to utilize the convenient resources available on this website such as the posters, music and fun facts.

Autumn 2016

Hello Friends; The beautiful Fall Season has arrived and the temperatures around Ohio have been very pleasant. In our spare time, Laura and I enjoy hiking and have visited some of the state and metro parks this summer.

We've had a very active summer of music making here at Big Band Curtis and are excited about new adventures in the upcoming season. Laura is now scheduling for 2017, so call us soon to reserve the dates that work best for you. Also, take a peek at our Music Store page. My CD is available at a significant discount for bulk orders. This would make a great gift for your residents or members of your organization.

Thank you to all of our customers and fans. We appreciate you very much and look forward to another great season of working together. -Curtis C.

Summer 2016

It has been a beautiful summer here in Eastern Ohio. Laura and I had a little vacation time at the beginning of June, which was quite pleasant. We had a visit from my brother's family one day, an ice cream social at our church on Memorial Day, we planted our garden, Laura went strawberry picking with a friend and we had a family reunion on my Mom's side all in one week. The 17 year Locust (Cicadas) visited for about 5 weeks through June. It sure was loud but they are gone now. Laura worked on VBS decorations for our church early in June. She also sings/plays piano for the early contemporary Summer service at our church and does such a beautiful job. One Saturday we enjoyed hiking at a Metro Park in Columbus which was delightful. The weekend of July 4th, we attended the 5 year Chamberlain Family Reunion in Marietta, Ohio. It was a great time to reconnect with family we don't see very often (picture below).

I've been working on new music arrangements for our shows as we steadily increase our repertoire. Our concert schedule has been quite full and active and we are so thankful for the opportunities we have for music and ministry. Here we are now in mid-July. We are looking forward to more wonderful activities that the beautiful summertime holds.
We pray your summer is going well and wish you all the very best. Drop us a line if you have the time, we would love to hear from you.  God Bless!  -Curtis C.

May 2016

Here we are in the month of May already and Springtime is blossoming everywhere. We've been busy at Big Band Curtis. A number of improvements have been made to our services. This year we are offering an additional service of music history lectures and are steadily increasing my repertoire with new and exciting musical arrangements. We've been upgrading our performance stage set as well. In the last post, I introduced our new customized Big Band music stand.

Authentic 1940's Big Band Music Stand.

In this post we introduce our new all-in-one, slim-line sound system. The speakers, amplifier, and mixer are all in one cabinet. The quality of sound is superb yet the cabinet is only 20 inches high. The system mounts on a tripod speaker stand and provides pleasant, even sound distribution to the entire room without blocking anyone's view of the show. This is a great addition for my smaller venues as great sound comes in small packages these days.

New All-In-One Sound System!

Thank you for all of your support and kind words. I look forward to seeing you soon.

God Bless!  -Curtis C.

March 2016

Wow! What a delightful way to start the month of March. The weather in Eastern Ohio has been so nice and mild. It has been a great month here at Big Band Curtis as we have had many wonderful and unique musical opportunities. I am currently working on new arrangements and am excited to share them soon. Our free song offering this month is "Home On The Range" (click here to listen or download). This is a western song from the late 1800's arranged and recorded by yours truly in 2013. We are also sporting a new image with the recent purchase of a nostalgic stage band music stand as part of the stage set for each performance (pictures below). Back in the 1940's Big Band Era, the band leader would have his name or initials on each of the 18 music stands. I have combined the name and initials with this stand as a authentic reproduction of both traditions. A new look with the same great music. I provide live music for any occasion in addition to music history lectures on Early American Popular Music. It is always a privilege to serve and I look forward to seeing you soon.  -Curtis C.
