The first person to perform the song was William Frawley in 1912 (Fred Mertz on the "I Love Lucy" TV Show). The song was performed by the great singer Bing Crosby in 1941 in the movie "The Birth of the Blues". Other great entertainers to use this number include the band leader Harry James and the actress/singer Judy Garland
