After finishing up a music program for an assisted living residence this week, a tall gentleman came up to tell me how much he enjoyed the program. He was visiting some friends at the facility. He requested my business card and also wanted a copy of my new album, "Hugs and Kisses." He was wearing a cap and I noticed it said WWII Veteran. "Did you serve in the military during WWII?" I asked. "Yes I did", he replied. "What branch of the service?" "I was in the army and I am wearing an artificial leg. I landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day. "Did you lose your leg at the initial invasion?", I asked. "No", he replied, "It was later when we moved inland. It was from a grenade blast, but I can tell you that was the last one that guy ever threw." We proceeded to chit chat for a few minutes and I thanked him repeatedly for his service and sacrifice. I stand in awe of the character and fortitude of "The Greatest Generation."
